BioCompute turned 1 on 21st March, 2025. We hosted a little celebration with (many of) our biggest supporters and cheerleaders, and sent out little notes of gratitude to those who couldn’t come in person.

P.S. A shout out to Olive Drops for hosting us, and Chiris Patisserie for the cake (check both of them out whenever you are in north Bangalore next)
The last year has been a rollercoaster for me - getting the first cheque for BioCompute in my final semester of college, graduating, moving to a new city, setting the company up from scratch, hiring folks, putting processes in place, procuring raw materials, sorting out (a LOT of) documentation, doing tons of virtual meetings, creating a community of young biotech founders, travelling for work, juggling time with friends and family (most of whom have been extraordinarily patient) and more.
Everyday is a new challenge, and it is not very often that I sit down and take stock. But this was one of those days that I did. I realized that the company has come so far - from being an idea on a google doc to a 4-member team working on it full time, equipment and (an albeit makeshift) office and lab to work with/in. Super grateful to everyone who has backed us with capital, networks, mentorship and (most importantly) emotional support on days that looked the bleakest.
Website Launch
In the honour of our first anniversary, we launched our brand new website that is now accessible at www.biocomputeinc.com.

Shifting the domain name from substack to our new host platform, we ran into a few hiccups, which took us nearly 15 days to resolve (hence the delay in putting it out here). Super grateful to Rakshith for spending some time over a weekend helping us troubleshoot.
This is V1 of the website, we are open to any and all feedback to make it better.
Meet Naveen
The man behind our new website (it’s also interesting that his name translates to meaning new/fresh in Sanskrit) and our in-house electronics engineer building solid state nanopores to read DNA.
As a first generation college student from Coimbatore, Naveen is majoring in electrical and electronics engineering (yup, he is still in his final semester). He has previously built a smart motor management system to help businesses save on maintenance cost, kick started the electric vehicle club in his college to compete in national and international level competitions and built a project management system from scratch for his EV club.
In the last two months that he has been at BioCompute, he spent a lot of time learning about nanopores, designing PCBs, running some initial experiments with our existing setup, and then picked up website development as a side quest (If the side quests of our team members come out this cool, imagine what the outcome of their main quests would be).

Super grateful to Shrirang for helping us with technical interviews, that ultimately led us to bringing Naveen on board.
Here’s to gearing up for the next phase!
